HA-ROM-BAY : OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLE
"Harambee" is Kenya's official motto. In Swahili, it means "let's all pull together" and represents the spirit of community collaboration. It is a call to action for communities to come together to achieve what individuals cannot accomplish alone.
At Enda, we embody this principle, believing in the power of unity and collective effort.
HARAMBEE SPIRIT
Enda was founded with a mission to bring Kenyan athletic greatness to runners everywhere and to fuel economic development in Kenya. In pursuit of this mission, we measure our impact in four key ways:
1. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Creating jobs is just the beginning. By developing new products that have never been made in Kenya, we aim to create better jobs both at Enda and within the local supply chain. These are jobs that demand skills and result in higher wages. We measure this impact by tracking the percentage of our costs that go towards wages in Kenya.
2. SUPPORTING LOCAL COMMUNITIES
A portion of the purchase price of each pair of shoes goes towards social good initiatives in Kenya through the Enda Community Foundation. We collaborate with a panel of experts to identify projects where we can make the most significant impact for those in need. In the spirit of Harambee, we engage with our global community of Enda runners to decide which projects to support. Learn More.
3. CHANGING THE WAY THE WORLD SEES KENYA
This is the hardest impact to measure, but it may be the most significant in the long run. We want the world to recognize the creativity and skill found in Kenya. When you see "Made in Kenya" on a tag, it should be synonymous with quality and contemporary style. If you have any ideas on how we can effectively measure our impact on this trend, please get in touch.
